![]() ![]() It's not the worst situation in the world. I reset my bios and factory reset my laptop. ![]() Uninstalled the drivers of the monitor in 'device manager' and re-plugged monitor, and scanned for hardware changes (this monitor doesn't have manufacturer drivers). Went to 'advanced display settings' ->'show all modes' ->' looked for correct resolution' (only 640x480 is available). Cycled through the VGA, DVI, HDMI inputs on the monitor, as well as factory reset it. Re-installed basically all my other drivers just to be thorough (chipset, etc). Restored to a 'restore point' from about a week ago. Uninstalled all my AMD gpu drivers with DDU, and tried re-installing both the OEM drivers, and the AMD manufacturer ones. In conclusion, I only experience the 640x480 locked resolution when the monitor is paired with the original computer that it occurred on, using an HDMI cable (I tested 4 different cables, which work on other systems). The DVI goes into the back of the monitor, and HDMI to my laptop, and it works just like before. What DOES work (that I've tried so far), is using a DVI to HDMI cable. And my laptop works completely fine (no locked 640x480) with any OTHER monitor. In summary, the affected monitor works completely fine (no locked 640 x 480) with any OTHER computer I hooked it up to. Tested all the combinations of different HDMI cables, monitors, and computers. ![]() It also shows up in my device manager as 'generic non-pnp monitor'. When I was finished, I plugged the monitor back into the original laptop and the screen came on but in 640x480 resolution and options to change it were grayed out. While both the laptop and monitor were on, I unplugged the HDMI from my laptop, and plugged it into another laptop, where it worked fine. It's been working just fine (besides some abysmal colors), until yesterday I 'hot-plugged' it(not sure if this is the right jargon). I have an Asus Zenbook hooked up to an ASUS VS238H-P. I know there are a lot of posts like these out there when searching google, but hear me out. ![]()
